CHRYSLER NYIAS PREVIEW

Windingroad presents this official rendering of the Jeep Trailhawk, a concept based on the new-for-2007 Wrangler. Not much information is available on the SUV, but DCX promises that it melds the core features of the venerable off-roader with the “sophistication of the Jeep Grand Cherokee.” The press blurb also says that the Trailhawk will bring with it “a new approach to open-air freedom,” so count on some sort of interesting removable roof mechanism. We’re not sure what to expect—perhaps Jeep is toying with an automatic folding hardtop?

Chrysler will once again exhume the “Nassau” moniker for a new North American International Auto Show concept car. This time, the name is affixed to a four-door “coupe” (think: Mercedes-Benz CLS) with four seats.

Chrysler history buffs will recall that the company’s most recent Nassau was another concept back in 2000 which presaged the current 300C. Back in the 1950s, Chrysler also had a production car by the same name, so it seems almost inevitable that DCX will chose to exhume the name one on a production car one of these days. [windingroad]
