There has been confirmation that the Apophis asteroid is on a collision course with the earth. Apophis’ estimated time of arrival is on the 13th of April, 2036. Hmm … wonder if that is a Friday? The odds of this 460 foot monster hitting are 1 in 45 000. There is no clear estimate of the potential damage, as the angle of impact and material “making up” the asteroid are unknown. One proposed solution is to launch a spacecraft, which will use gravity to “tug” the rock off course.
