Path to Marijuana Legalization in Sight

For decades, marijuana advocates have been fighting for justice. Today alcohol is still the only drug to ever escape prohibition, mainly because of extreme violence and health concerns while illegal. Marijuana, however, has had to continuously fight the legal battle. Every year more Americans realize the truth about cannabis - although it’s never enough since the American population is growing faster than the fortunate-minded. Thankfully, two personalities have erupted onto the political scene that could change marijuana policies forever: Nancy Pelosi and Hilary Clinton.

Both Nancy and Hillary agree on a concept more desirable to the public: medicinal marijuana. Amazingly, fourteen states have now approved some form of medical marijuana, and it’s clear the trend is starting: but when’s the overdrive going to kick in? Possibly in ‘08.

Despite marijuana being already partially decriminalized and medically approved in many states, 2006 brought home a “L” for marijuana policy reform. Nevada, Colorado, and South Dakota all turned down their marijuana ballot initiatives. It seems the only path to legalization right now is through legislation.
